TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Chang Jung-hsing (張榮興) took office as the new Director-general of the National Police Agency on Thursday (May 23), vowing to focus on combating fraud and protecting citizens from scams.
Minister of the Interior Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) expressed high hopes for Chang's tenure and acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing Director-general, Huang Ming-chao (黃明昭).
A New Era in Policing
Chang, a graduate of the Central Police University, has held several key positions, including Commissioner of the Hsinchu County Police Bureau and General Commander of the Special Police Sixth Headquarters. His extensive experience in police administration is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the agency.
Under his leadership as commissioner of the Taipei City Police Department, the city ranked third in the international safety and crime index in 2023, showcasing his capability to enhance public safety.
Chang has committed to aligning with the Executive Yuan's new anti-fraud legislation, aiming to tackle fraud cases from their source and reduce the number of citizens falling victim to scams, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the public against increasingly sophisticated scams.
