TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant move to bolster communication between the executive and legislative branches and to advance public welfare legislation, Premier Cho Jung-tai, accompanied by Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun, visited Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu on Wednesday (May 22). The visit sought legislative support to pass four new anti-fraud bills, highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing fraud prevention measures.

During the visit, Premier Cho emphasized the urgency of passing four draft bills to bolster anti-fraud capabilities, which were recently approved by the Executive Yuan. The draft bill includes the Communication Security and Surveillance Act and Money Laundering Control Act.

The proposed legislation aims to increase the responsibilities of Internet advertising platforms and financial institutions, enhance fraud penalties, and introduce more stringent measures for repeat offenders. Notably, fraudsters involved in scams amounting to over NT$10 million could face up to 10 years in prison, with a no-parole clause for those convicted three times.

Premier Cho expressed his hope that the Legislative Yuan would expedite the approval of these bills, underscoring their importance in providing law enforcement agencies with the necessary tools to combat fraud effectively. Cho aims to propose policies of urgent nature and less controversy for the benefit of the country and its people, hoping for the legislative department's support.

This initiative reflects the government's proactive approach to safeguarding public interests and its determination to strengthen the legal framework against fraud.

As the legislative process unfolds, the government's efforts to enhance communication and collaboration between the executive and legislative branches could mark a significant step forward in the fight against fraud, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for Taiwanese citizens
