TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Ambassador Dai Bing of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN spoke at the Group of 20 (G20) meeting on Tuesday (March 12), focusing on stimulating global economic growth and encouraging active participation from G20 nations in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Ambassador Dai emphasized that the global economic recovery remains slow, and diverse challenges persist. He said Beijing hopes the G20 will promote cooperation and unity to ensure robust, sustainable, inclusive, and balanced global economic growth.
China proposes to implement the BRI and global development initiatives, inviting G20 members to participate actively in cooperative ventures to advance international development goals.
Ambassador Dai offered four suggestions:
1. Prioritize development cooperation and strengthen collaboration in areas such as poverty reduction, food security, and eliminating inequality to advance progress toward the sustainable development agenda for 2030.
2. Engage in coordinated macroeconomic policy cooperation, bolster the global financial safety net, and guard against financial risks while maintaining smooth industry and supply chains.
3. Seek potential in the digital economy, promote high-quality digital interconnectivity, bridge the digital gaps, and build an open, inclusive, non-discriminatory digital economic environment.
4. Instigate a reform in global economic governance. Ambassador Dai Bing emphasizes that the governance of Bretton Woods institutions should reflect changes in the world economy and enhance the representation and speaking rights of emerging markets and developing countries.
Dai added that China extends congratulations to Brazil's G20 presidency and expresses China's willingness to support and strive for the success of Brazil's G20 summit, contributing to global economic recovery and worldwide prosperity.
