TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei's Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced on Friday (Feb. 2), that he would be taking his family for a ride on the newly revamped Maokong Gondola during the Lunar New Year holidays to visit the zoo.
The gondola cabins have been given a fresh look, featuring designs in collaboration with "Animal Rescue Team Taiwan" and the popular "Maji Meow" (cat). The redesign is aimed at highlighting the importance of animal conservation, rescue efforts, and life education.
Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation announced that from Feb. 3 to Feb. 14, customers who purchase three one-day passes to the Maokong Gondola will receive a limited edition New Year magnet set. Each purchase of a one-day pass will also come with a single limited edition magnet.
The gondola cabins feature images of the gondola's mascots, including the "Landlord" (a sloth), the Maji Cat, and other characters like EMMA and a calf. The updated designs were implemented during the recent cable replacement.
Passengers can scan QR codes inside the cabins to access real conservation stories, promoting respect for all life and the concept of equality among all creatures.
During the New Year period, visitors to the Camphor Tree Trail can enjoy blooming lupines, the "Maokong Light Halo" at night, and sporadic God of Wealth blessings at various gondola stations.
Additionally, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 10 to Feb. 12, limited quantities of sweets and cookies will be given away at the gondola stations.
