TAIPEI (TVBS News) — James Soong, chairman of the People First Party (PFP), attributed the fallout of the Blue-White alliance to politicking among a group of power-hungry politicians on Sunday (Nov. 26).

The split has led to finger-pointing, with Ko Wen-je's Taiwan People's Party (TPP) campaign chief, Huang Shan-shan, being labeled by some as the culprit behind the opposition's failed cooperation.

In an interview, Soong dismissed the criticism directed at Huang, his former protégé. He retorted, "Is the culprit only one person? Isn't it a group of politicians? A group of politicians fighting for positions and opposing each other." Soong questioned whether they "really keep the people's issues at heart."

Soong criticized Taiwan's major parties, including the Kuomintang (KMT), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), TPP, and his own PFP —each carrying 'people' in their Chinese names — for needing to reflect on whether they truly heed the voices and interests of the populace.

Questioning the presidential nomination processes of the other parties, Soong expressed skepticism about whether they focus more on replacing each other rather than prioritizing the welfare of the people.

Soong underscored that the PFP has always prioritized public affairs and prided itself on not placing party interests above the public's welfare.

These claims by Soong come amid heightened tensions as the opposition parties navigate the complex dynamics of the upcoming elections, with the fragmentation of the Blue-White alliance underscoring the challenges of uniting against the ruling administration.
