TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) issued heavy rain advisories for Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County on Tuesday (Aug. 15). Anticipated stifling heat in various areas underscores the importance of sun protection.
The influence of the southwest wind persists on Tuesday; however, moisture levels have slightly decreased, resulting in more extended intervals between rainfalls.
Despite this change, residents in the southern regions are advised to exercise caution regarding localized heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly in mountainous areas. It is advisable to refrain from venturing into the mountains in the afternoon.
During the early morning until noon, isolated brief showers or thunderstorms may occur in the central and southern regions. In contrast, other areas will likely experience cloudy to sunny conditions before noon.
In the afternoon, isolated brief thunderstorms are anticipated in various locations, making it necessary to use rain gear when venturing out.
Regarding temperatures, highs ranging between 32 to 33 degrees Celsius are projected for the central regions. Intense heat will be felt in the northern and eastern parts, prompting the CWB to issue a heat advisory for Greater Taipei, Taoyuan City, Hualien, and Taitung County.
Of note, Taipei City and Hualien County might experience temperatures reaching up to 36 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days. Strong recommendations are in place for precautions against sun exposure, including sunscreen application and staying well-hydrated.
Due to a low-pressure system, there will be turbulent weather from Wednesday to Saturday (Aug. 16-19). Rain areas will vary daily, so carrying rain gear and staying updated on the latest weather information is advisable.
