TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The latest poll from Newtalk on Tuesday (Aug. 15) unveiled that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te commanded a support rate of 33.2%.
Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je trailed behind with 28.81%, and Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih had a support rate of 23.52%.
With merely five months left for the 2024 presidential election., both Lai and Ko saw a marginal drop in support compared to the previous poll, down 0.3% and 0.76%, respectively, while Hou witnessed an increase by 2.12%, bringing him within a 3% difference from Ko.
The pollster attributed the rise of Hou's poll to the pan-green party's shifted attacks at Ko, with only a nominal assault on Hou.
The poll was conducted through a digital mobile poll by the Newstalk between August 13 to 14, with a successful recovery of 1795 valid questionnaires.
