TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As Typhoon Kahnun slowly moved away from Taiwan on Friday (Aug. 4), the strong winds and heavy rainfall continued to create destruction in the northern parts of the country.

On Thursday evening, Taipei City's wind speed reached force 10 (24.5–28.4 m/s). The gusts toppled trees and knocked down scooters in Taipei, not only blocking traffic but also inconveniencing residents. The winds also blew a three-meter-long signboard off the wall, damaging a car's windshield.

In Keelung County, waves reportedly reached five meters high, resulting in flooding incidents in the city.

The Central Weather Bureau lifted the land warning for Typhoon Kahnun on Friday (Aug. 4) early morning; however, the bureau still cautions people about strong winds.
