NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In anticipation of Typhoon Khanun's arrival, President Tsai Ing-wen visited the Central Emergency Operation Center on Thursday morning (Aug. 3) to ensure the necessary precautions were taken to keep the public safe.

During her visit, President Tsai expressed her gratitude toward the officials working tirelessly since the previous typhoon, Doksuri, to prepare for and manage any potential disaster. She urged them to continue their efforts in the face of Khanun's approach.

The president also reminded citizens to stay informed about their area's weather conditions and avoid risky activities during the typhoon. She advised against going near riverbeds, hiking trails, river tracing spots, wave-watching areas, and fishing spots.

More importantly, President Tsai thanked those working hard to prevent disasters and protect their communities. She also shared coffee with the emergency operations center officials overseeing the emergency response efforts.
