TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Business tycoon Terry Gou watched Boston Red Sox star Chang Yu-cheng in action at the Seattle Mariners' T-Mobile Park on Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 2), Seattle time.
After the game, Gou met up with Chang near the rest area, receiving the latter's autograph on a baseball and bat. In return, Gou gave Chang a pair of small food packages.
Chang, seemingly detached from political influences, revealed that this was his inaugural face-to-face with Gou. The meeting, he said, wasn't organized via the team's PR lineup — it was Gou's assistants who organized it the day before at the park.
The duo also discussed Gou's previous support for Perng Lai Elementary School's baseball team from Yilan that flew to the U.S. for a competition. Chang invited Gou to a year-end charity event, which Gou graciously accepted, expressing anticipation for their next encounter in Taiwan.
