TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Agriculture officially inaugurated Chen Chi-chung as its new minister on Tuesday (Aug. 1), with leading officials attending the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Premier Chen Chien-jen praised Chen Chi-chung, saying he has significantly improved the lives of farmers and breathed new life into Taiwan's agriculture sector.
He expressed optimism that under the leadership of the newly appointed minister, the ministry will strengthen Taiwan's farming and fishing industries.
Since assuming office, the premier also mentioned President Tsai Ing-wen's ongoing concern for rural development. Minister Chen Chi-chung has been attentive to the farmers, especially in delivering insurance and pensions since 2016.
Addressing why Chen Chi-chung was chosen as the Minister of Agriculture, Premier Chen Chien-jen said that a country youth becoming a minister demonstrates an immense inner drive.
He strongly believes Chen Chi-chung understands the needs of farmers and fishers, further stating his confidence that Chen will contribute positively to Taiwan.
