TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The TPASS Commuter Monthly Pass hit another milestone on Thursday (July 20) with an impressive 419,000 cards sold in the Greater Taipei and Taoyuan metropolitan areas.
Taipei City's Department of Transportation recorded 17.2 million rides over the past 20 days. As expected, the MRT system remains the preferred choice for approximately 48.5% of commuters, 32.1% of city bus rides, and 6.1% of train rides.
Using highway buses, YouBike, Taoyuan Metro, and light rail contributed the rest.
The transportation department announced that passengers with active TPASS cards expiring within the next ten days can renew their subscriptions starting Friday (July 21) via service counters, top-up machines, and railway station windows.
The monthly pass has proved to be a cost-effective and efficient option for commuters, encouraging seamless intermodal travel within the bustling metropolitan region.
