NEW TAIPEI, Taiwan (TVBS News) — Foxconn Founder Terry Gou and New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi showed a united front as they arrived to pay homage to the Mazu deity in New Taipei City's Banqiao Ci Hui Temple on Friday (May 12).

Without any animosity, the contenders for the opposition Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential nomination hopefuls coincidentally shared similar stories of being raised by the temple and Mazu while greeting each other warmly.

They later shook hands and posed for photographs, holding each other's hands.

When asked by reporters about his relationship with Hou, Gou replied, "The ROC will be victorious. It will gain peace, prosper, and attain great heights. What's there to be unhappy about?"

But he declined to answer questions about the possibility of a partnership between the two if either is nominated as KMT's presidential candidate, saying, "That's a secret between ourselves."

While Hou has been less vocal about his presidential intentions, Gou has vigorously campaigned. On Friday, Gou will conclude the final leg of his week-long campaign trip in Banqiao District.
