TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Foxconn Founder Terry Gou officially announced his plan to seek the KMT nomination in the 2024 presidential election on Wednesday (April 5).
Holding a press conference in Taoyuan upon his return to Taiwan from the U.S., Gou said, "Taiwan needs a great CEO," adding that if elected, he would guide Taiwan towards becoming an even more technologically advanced country.
The executive also apologized for leaving the Kuomintang (KMT) party four years ago as he asked for the party's presidential nomination for 2024.
He pointed out that even if the KMT ultimately chose to nominate New Taipei City mayor Hou You-yi, he would accept their decision and do all he can to garner support for the party.
Gou's announcement could see changes within the KMT as political parties prepare to announce their nominations for the 2024 presidential race.
