SINGAPORE (TVBS News) — New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi received enthusiastic responses during his trip to a local market in Singapore on Thursday (April 20).
While grabbing a bite to eat and strolling through the famous Newton Food Centre, many Singaporeans came forward to meet Hou, with some extending a warm welcome and a handshake to show their support.
As many speculate Hou may be getting the main opposition party Kuomintang's (KMT) nomination ticket to Taiwan's 2024 presidential election, some of Hou's fans in Singapore also came up to him to "assure" him that should he run for president; he would surely win.
Though the New Taipei City mayor seemed happily surprised by the support, he remained tight-lipped about any possible future presidential plans. When asked by the media, Hou merely smiled and pointed to the tasty dish before him, telling reporters, "I'm enjoying a satay today."
