SIMI VALLEY (TVBS News) — Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen thanked the United States for supporting Taiwan and reiterated the nation's hopes for a peaceful status quo after meeting with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday (April 5).
During the joint press conference held after the historical meeting, Tsai stated that "Taiwan is not alone" due to the unwavering support of the United States.
She also emphasized the importance of defending the current peaceful status quo and thanked the U.S. for protecting Taiwan's way of life.
McCarthy added that he believes the bond between Taiwan and the U.S. is stronger than ever and vowed to "honor [their] obligations and reiterate [their] commitment to [the] shared values behind which all Americans are united."
