MOI approves phase two of CTSP expansion, meeting TSMC needs (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior (MOI) urban planning committee approved the phase two of the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) expansion project on Tuesday (Dec. 26), aimed at meeting the advanced manufacturing needs of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
The committee's approval paves the way for the land to be handed over to factories by mid-2024 for public works construction. The expansion will convert agricultural and institutional land into a specialized area and public facility space spanning 89 hectares.
In addition to creating 4,500 jobs to strengthen the semiconductor industry, the project aligns with climate change and net-zero goals by 2050, including reclaimed water and renewable energy supply.
The MOI stated that these initiatives align with international sustainability goals, balancing global competitiveness with local sustainable development.
