TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Christmas Day traffic in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, experienced minor disruption as a wandering cow strolled down a public road. Eyewitnesses spotted the bovine in the city's East District on Christmas Eve.

With police and the owner's assistance, it took about half an hour to guide the cow back home. The owner explained on Monday (Dec. 25) that the rope tethering the cow had broken, allowing it to roam freely through the streets.

Officials from the city's Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office had tranquilizer darts on hand and used them in their attempts to control the animal. However, they decided to cease using them after identifying and consulting with the owner, as there were no safety concerns.

The cow eventually cooperated, and both the police and owner coaxed it onto a vehicle for transportation back home. While the cow briefly disrupted holiday traffic, it created a memorable Christmas for Hsinchu City residents.
