TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A tragic shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on Wednesday led to the deaths of three faculty members, including Taiwanese professor Cha Jan "Jerry" Chang, and left one person critically injured. Two of the deceased were identified as business school professors.

Chang, an associate professor in the Management, Entrepreneurship & Technology department, had been a part of UNLV for over 20 years, starting his tenure in 2001. Aged 64, he played a significant role in educating a generation of business students.

Chang held academic qualifications from Taiwan, Central Michigan University, Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in management information systems from the University of Pittsburgh.

UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield, in a letter to the staff, identified the victims as university employees, with two from the business school. The identity of the third victim is pending as officials await notification of the next of kin.

The shooter, a 67-year-old former college professor not affiliated with UNLV, was identified by Las Vegas police. According to media, the gunman had previously attempted to secure a position at UNLV but was unsuccessful.

The sole survivor of the attack is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment. Details about the shooting's circumstances remain undisclosed by the authorities.
