TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In its "Automotive Cybersecurity Report 2023" released on Tuesday (Dec. 5), VicOne revealed that over 90 percent of cyberattacks are targeting companies within the automotive supply chain rather than car manufacturers.

The financial impact of these cyberattacks in the first half of the year has exceeded an unprecedented US$11 billion. The surge in cyber threats primarily focuses on vendors and suppliers in the automotive sector, indicating a worrying trend.

The report highlights hackers' shift towards less secure firms, as security-conscious companies prove harder to breach. This pattern increases risks for interconnected players in the industry's supply network.

VicOne CEO Max Cheng urgently calls for the automotive industry to enhance its cybersecurity efforts. He stresses the need for increased resources and budget allocation to security and the establishment of comprehensive security infrastructure to combat cyber threats.
