TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan High Court Kaohsiung Branch Court (KSH) upheld a 16-year sentence on Thursday (Dec. 7) for a man surnamed Chen convicted of murder and attempted murder.
On the evening of Oct. 25, 2021, an irked Chen attacked 69-year-old Lee, a homeless man, with a brick beneath a viaduct near Pintung station after being refused help and insulted earlier in the week. Lee died as a result of the assault. The next day, Chen inflicted severe injuries on 62-year-old Chang, an air conditioning repairman, using a wooden stick.
Chen's previous convictions for assault and violence, along with a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder (APD), were taken into consideration by the Pintung District Court(PDC). He was initially sentenced to 13 years for murder and 7 years for attempted murder.
