President Tsai’s latest approval rating hits record low (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen's approval rating, which averaged 43.9% in 2023, has dropped to a record low by 5.7 points from the previous month, according to a recent survey released on Monday (Oct. 30).

In the poll conducted by My Formosa, Premier Chen Chien-jen's performance has been assessed with the recent survey showing a striking 40% decline in job approval; his approval rating, which polled at 39.3%, marked a personal low throughout his nine-month administrative period. 

 


The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is not faring much better, as the survey revealed a favorability rating of only 39.3% for DPP, with 47.9% of respondents reporting negative feelings towards the party.

Meanwhile, Kuomintang (KMT) received a rating that performs slightly better than the DPP, garnering 39% of voters favoring the opposing party, whereas 43.7% expressed disapproval. 

The poll collected 1,070 responses from Oct. 24 to 25, surveying adults aged 20 and up nationwide via landline phone numbers and mobile phones at random.
