TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen on Friday (Oct. 6) urged Taiwanese people in China to prioritize personal safety and maintain regular contact with Taiwanese government bodies amid escalating tensions.
The safety announcement follows the recent arrest of a Chinese woman who has resided in Taiwan for over 20 years due to her marriage.
Many people have suggested that her arrest during a family trip to China may be connected to her previous association with an online fan page named "Friends of Tsai Ing-wen." The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) has stated that they have not yet received any requests for assistance concerning the woman's situation.
Meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Hsu Chih-chieh weighed in, asserting that the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) should be proactive in its rescue efforts and seek international support if the incident were validated.
