Changhua factory fire claims lives of 3 Filipino workers

CHANGHUA (TVBS News) — The tragic news of the Changhua food factory fire has sent shockwaves throughout Taiwan and the friends and members of the foreign community from Southeast Asia. 

Seven workers, including three Filipino migrants, died in a blaze on Tuesday (April 25). The fire had trapped 22 workers in the factory, and the media reported that the three Filipino employees were among the fifteen people who hid in the refrigerator.

Regarding the cause of the fire, investigators suspected that the victims had inhaled a large amount of smoke, passing through the gaps and resulting in the tragedy. The local authorities were still investigating the cause of the fire outbreak as of press time.

The loss of life severely affected the victims' families, especially the three Filipino migrant workers who had left their homes and traveled to Taiwan to provide for their loved ones. The incident also raised concerns about the safety of workers in factories and the need for better safety standards in the workplace.

As the world mourned the loss of the seven workers, including the three migrant workers, the tragedy served as a reminder of the daily dangers that workers face and the urgent need to prioritize their safety in the workplace.
