TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A highly anticipated fan meeting featuring South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun (金秀賢) will proceed as planned during the March 30 Kaohsiung (高雄) Sakura Festival. The event organizer confirmed on Friday (March 14) that no changes have been made to the schedule so far, despite swirling rumors about his alleged six-year relationship with the late child star Kim Sae-ron (金賽綸).
The controversy erupted after reports surfaced that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron from when she was 15. Her family released intimate photos, fueling the public debate. Kim Soo-hyun also faced criticism for reportedly covering a 700 million won (about NT$16.8 million) compensation for her Driving under the influence (DUI) incident, only to later demand repayment. As a result, several brands in South Korea have cut ties with him.
In Taiwan, many online users expressed dissatisfaction with Kim Soo-hyun's actions, questioning his public image. The organizers stated that the event remains on track, but with two weeks until the fan meeting, they may adjust marketing strategies at the last minute.
Meanwhile, PRADA has dropped Kim as its brand ambassador, and the brand's customer service confirmed the termination of their partnership earlier that day. Despite the backlash, Kim continues his role on the variety show "Good Day," with Korean media reporting that his schedule remains unaffected as he recorded the program yesterday.
