TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City launched the Drone Education Center at Muzha Vocational High School (木柵高工) on Wednesday (March 12) to bolster students' drone education capabilities. The city announced an education subsidy plan, injecting NT$1.2 million to support 15 schools.
The initiative aims to cultivate seed teachers, expand drone competitions and camps, and implement school courses by the 114th academic year. Taipei Deputy Mayor Chang Wen-te (張溫德) emphasized the significance of drone technology as an emerging skill in diverse fields, including environmental protection and logistics.
The center will focus on five key areas: training seed teachers, promoting drone education in schools, developing interdisciplinary STEAM materials, organizing competitions and camps, and fostering professional talent through industry-academic collaboration.
The city's Department of Education (北市教育局) aims for trained teachers to integrate drone concepts into curricula, encouraging students to explore real-world applications. The center collaborates with the Civil Aviation Administration (民航局) for technical and regulatory guidance and offers industry observation opportunities to deepen students' practical experience.
