NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Police arrested actor Darren Wang (王大陸) on Tuesday (March 4) on suspicion of attempted murder after an alleged violent outburst over a car service. Reports claim Wang, dissatisfied with the vehicle provided by a popular platform for his airport transfer, sought assistance to physically assault the driver and dispatcher, leaving them with severe injuries.
Wang's manager responded to the incident, stating, "We are still sorting out about what happened. Thank you." This follows a recent controversy where Wang allegedly spent NT$1 million on a fake medical record to feign a heart condition and avoid military service. Authorities transferred him to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further investigation, and he was released on bail of NT$150,000.
Originally scheduled to enlist on March 13, Wang planned to report at Taipei Main Station before heading to Taichung's Chenggong Ling (成功嶺) military training camp for a year of alternative service. Taipei Department of Military Compulsory Service Deputy Director Lin Chun-lai (林春來) warned that if Wang fails to enlist in March, he could face charges under Article 5 of the "Punishment Act for Violation to Military Service System" (妨害兵役治罪條例), carrying a potential sentence of up to five years.
Wan rose to fame in 2015 with the romantic film "Our Times" (我的少女時代) and shifted his career focus to China, starring in productions like "Legend of the Naga Pearls" (鮫珠傳) and "The Wolf" (狼殿下).
