TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A strong continental cold air mass brought chilly conditions across Taiwan on Tuesday (Feb. 25), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署). The cold air mass, affecting regions from New Taipei City to Yilan County, could see temperatures dip to 10 degrees Celsius or lower. Miaoli County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, and Kinmen County also face similar temperature risks, the CWA reported.
The CWA forecasts a warming trend as the cold air mass weakens throughout the day, with temperatures rising noticeably. Wednesday and Thursday mornings and evenings will remain cool, with sporadic rain expected in northern and eastern areas due to shifting cloud systems from South China. Other regions can expect mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 26 degrees across various parts of the island.
The upcoming 228 Peace Memorial Day holiday promises even warmer weather from Friday to Sunday. With mostly cloudy to sunny skies island-wide, only the eastern regions and Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) might experience brief showers. Temperatures are set to rise, with highs reaching up to 28 degrees in the south.
A new weather front will approach next Monday, bringing scattered showers to the east, southeast, and Hengchun Peninsula, while northern and northeastern areas will gradually see intermittent rain. Other regions will remain partly cloudy to sunny, with temperatures climbing to 30 degrees in the south.
