NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City's Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office (新北市動保處) will host the "Lucky Fur Baby Adoption Event" (Lucky幸運毛寶認養活動) at Tamsui Tianyuan Temple (淡水天元宮) on Sunday (Feb. 23) at 10 a.m. The event aims to increase pet visibility and boost adoption chances by leveraging the cherry blossom crowds and scenic spring backdrop.
Animal protection staff emphasized the strategic choice of Tamsui Tianyuan Temple for the event, highlighting its potential to attract more citizens. They noted that successful adopters on the day will receive an adoption gift package, including cages, health supplements, and gifts from pet food manufacturers.
For those unable to attend, the Animal Protection Office offers an alternative. By adopting a cat or dog from one of New Taipei City's eight public animal homes by the end of February or leaving a comment saying "New Taipei pets stay safe all year round" (新北寵物平安一整年) on their Facebook page, individuals can enter a "Pet Good Fortune Light" (寵物平安燈) raffle.
Officials urge prospective adopters to thoroughly assess their living situations before adopting. They stress the importance of lifelong care planning, discussing with family members, and evaluating long-term responsibilities to ensure a stable and happy environment for the pets.
