TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC, 疾管署) announced Monday (Feb. 17) the distribution of 100,000 additional government-funded flu vaccines, with inoculations starting Thursday.
This initiative follows the sudden passing of renowned actress Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛) due to severe flu complications, which sparked public demand for vaccinations.
CDC Spokesperson Tseng Shu-hui (曾淑慧) confirmed that the vaccines that passed inspections last Friday are being distributed according to local health bureau plans. New Taipei City received the largest share, with 15,450 doses, followed by Taichung with 12,380 and Kaohsiung with 12,270.
Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Tainan City were allocated 11,160, 9,630, and 8,480 doses, respectively. Other regions, including Changhua County and Pingtung County, received 5,500 and 3,570 doses each, while smaller municipalities received between 50 and 2,000 doses.
As the government rolls out these vaccines, the public is advised to stay informed about vaccination schedules and locations to benefit from this timely health measure.
