TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵) announced on Tuesday (Feb. 11) the addition of 95 train services during the Taiwan Lantern Festival (台灣燈會). The festival will occur from Wednesday to the following Sunday at the plaza in front of the THSR Taoyuan Station. The rail company aims to accommodate increased travel demand.
THSR will add 47 southbound and 48 northbound trains during the festival. On weekdays, trains will stop at Taoyuan Station every 20 minutes, while on holidays, they will stop every 15 minutes. The company will implement crowd control measures at Taoyuan Station, starting at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on holidays, to ensure smooth passenger flow.
THSR urges festival-goers to purchase return tickets in advance. It recommends using the T Express app (T-EX行動購票) or EasyCard/iPASS co-branded credit cards for quick ticket purchases. The company plans to add all-reserved seat trains to manage the crowds efficiently.
