TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵) announced on Tuesday (Jan. 14) that it will add 95 extra train services from Feb. 12 to 23 to accommodate the 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival (2025台灣燈會). After nine years, the festival returns to Taoyuan City, taking place at the plaza in front of the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station.
THSR will operate 47 southbound and 48 northbound trains during the festival. The company will offer various discounts, including the "T Holiday" (高鐵假期) package and up to 30% off train tickets for guests staying at designated hotels. Ticket sales for these additional services will open at midnight on Wednesday.
THSR will implement traffic control measures at Taoyuan Station throughout the festival to manage the anticipated crowds. Starting Jan. 20, the company will adjust transfer routes and parking spaces around the station in phases. Additionally, it will increase the number of trains between Nangang and Taichung and add more non-reserved seating in some evening services.
The company will also enhance station staffing to guide passengers effectively. At Exit 2 of Taoyuan Station, THSR has installed the "Be There Taoyuan" light and shadow art installation, which integrates environmental and ESG concepts. This installation aims to offer travelers a vibrant experience of the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
