NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Department of Health, New Taipei City Government (新北市衛生局), announced on Monday (Jan. 20) that 17 emergency hospitals in New Taipei City will maintain 24-hour emergency services during the upcoming nine-day Lunar New Year holiday starting Saturday.
Hospitals will operate as they do on regular Saturdays, as this Saturday will be the holiday's first day. Outpatient services will pause this Sunday but will resume normally next Monday, the eve of Lunar New Year's Eve. Most hospitals will suspend outpatient services from Lunar New Year's Eve to next Friday. However, eight hospitals, including Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital (輔大醫院), will offer limited outpatient services on Lunar New Year's Eve.
On the first and second days of the new year, 11 hospitals, including Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (亞東醫院), will provide limited services. On the third day, 14 hospitals, such as Tamsui Mackay Memorial Hospital (淡水馬偕醫院), will offer partial outpatient services. Regular outpatient hours will gradually resume on the fourth day (Feb. 1), although five hospitals will remain closed.
The department urges residents to check hospital contact details or visit the National Health Insurance Administration's (健保署) website for accurate information. Due to significant temperature fluctuations, they also recommend taking precautions against cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and respiratory diseases. They also advise practicing personal hygiene to reduce the risk of respiratory infections during holiday gatherings.
