TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Culture (MOC, 文化部) announced on Wednesday (Jan. 15) that since Jan. 1, 940,000 people have claimed culture points (文化幣), achieving a 45.5% uptake rate and generating NT$130 million in spending. The ministry encourages youths aged 13 to 22 to participate in culture point activities during the Lunar New Year, highlighting the escape room experience "Challenge Accepted: Battle on New Year's Eve" as a recommended event.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) described the culture gifts as a "red envelope" from the Executive Yuan and Ministry of Culture, offering 1,200 points to those aged 16 to 22, while those aged 13 to 15 receive 600 points. The premier also joined forces with YouTuber Three Muggles (三個麻瓜) to participate in an escape room activity related to the MOC events. The MOC suggests that the escape room is ideal for youths, friends, and families to experience together. During the New Year, using culture points to watch domestic films can earn a 100-point rebate for single purchases exceeding 350 points. For those seeking a quieter activity, visiting independent bookstores to purchase books offers a smart holiday choice, with a 1-point bonus for every 2 points spent using culture points.
