TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) announced the formation of a special task force on Wednesday (Dec. 25) to address the Core Pacific City (京華城) case. Vice Mayor Lee Shu-chuan (副市長李四川) will lead the team, which will respond appropriately if Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) faces indictment, Chiang explained.
The Taipei mayor spoke to the media after an event, detailing the task force that includes the Department of Legal Affairs (法務局), the Department of Urban Development (都發局), the Construction Management Office (建管處), and the Department of Government Ethics (政風處), along with experts and scholars. When pressed on the legal basis for retracting volume incentives, Chiang reaffirmed that any legal violations or other issues would prompt corresponding actions.
Reporters also questioned Chiang about calls from council members for strict oversight of Ko's administration to which he assured the public that actions will align with the indictment's details and related cases. As the investigation progresses, the city's response to these high-profile issues will likely draw significant public attention, reflecting Taipei's commitment to accountability and transparency.
