TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) has marked nearly two years in office with a significant boost in public approval. A Monday (Dec. 9) poll revealed that 54% of citizens are satisfied with his administration, a 5% increase compared to his first year.
The TVBS Poll Center survey indicated a mere 16% dissatisfaction rate, showing little change over time. It highlighted that 68% of citizens feel proud to live in Taipei, while only 13% do not share this sentiment. Satisfaction with Chiang's performance remains strong among those over 40, with approval rates exceeding 50%, whereas the 30-39 age group showed the lowest satisfaction at 43%.
Mayor Chiang attributed the rising approval to his administration's dedicated efforts. During a TVBS interview, he emphasized the city's full commitment to policies, including the Taipei Dome (大巨蛋) project. The Taipei Dome has hosted events such as Jay Chou's (周杰倫) concerts, drawing crowds from Taipei and beyond. He expressed plans to continue enhancing the Dome's economic impact.
The poll, conducted from Nov. 7-13, gathered responses from 912 Taipei residents aged 20 and above. It used a random sampling method of the last four digits of telephone numbers and was funded by TVBS.
