TAIPEI (TVBS News) — ASUS (華碩) Chairman Jonney Shih (施崇棠) announced on Friday (Dec. 20) the company's second-best performance in history and confirmed the launch of a humanoid robot project. Shih emphasized that humanoid robots will play a crucial role in ASUS's Artificial Intelligence (AI) development strategy, marking a key breakthrough in AI advancement.

Speaking to the media, Shih explained that achieving true AI breakthroughs requires building world models through physical entities, making robot development inevitable. This aligns with industry trends, as Tesla (特斯拉) CEO Elon Musk (馬斯克) has shown interest in humanoid robots, he argued. ASUS's prior experience in robot development is reportedly advancing rapidly amid the emergence of general intelligence models.

In the AI landscape, Shih highlighted ASUS's comprehensive strategy, spanning from super servers to AI PCs. ASUS has established itself as a market leader in the Copilot PC product line. Shih noted that AI development is shifting towards diverse, smaller models rooted in various applications, underscoring the importance of integrating software and hardware for future value creation.

Celebrating a Stellar Year
In 2024, ASUS was named a Forbes Global Best Employer for the fifth consecutive year and appeared nine times on Fortune's World's Most Admired Companies list. It received accolades from prestigious awards like Germany's Red Dot, iF Design, and Japan's Good Design, and became Taiwan's first computer brand to join the FIRST international cybersecurity organization, underscoring its leadership in information security.

ASUS continues to strive toward comprehensive AI integration with its "Ubiquitous AI. Incredible Possibilities" strategy. The company launched the Copilot+ PC and AI-powered productivity tools, expanding its AI PC product line. In the server domain, ASUS developed a complete AI infrastructure and helped build Taiwan's largest supercomputing center, entering the global TOP500.

In smart healthcare, ASUS's AI EndoAim endoscope won the U.S. MedTech Breakthrough Award, and the LU800 series ultrasound received the National Healthcare Quality Award. Internally, ASUS established a generative AI committee to create an exclusive AI Hub and large language models, enhancing efficiency and innovation. Looking to 2025, ASUS aims to harness collective intelligence and creativity for unparalleled experiences and infinite possibilities.

A Night of Triumph and Tech
These announcements were made on the sidelines of the 2024 year-end party, themed "ASUS Wisdom Shines Brightly: Creating New AI Heights Together" (華碩眾智耀輝煌 共創AI新高峰). The event, held at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, brought together over 8,000 employees. Chairman Jonney Shih (施崇棠) arrived in a BMW X3, announcing it as the grand prize among awards totaling NT$25 million for employees.

During the event, Shih expressed pride in the company's evolution, emphasizing the importance of "Trust in Radical Truth & Radical Transparency" and "The art of thoughtful disagreement." He reiterated that "design thinking," which prioritizes consumer needs, is crucial for business management. The evening featured performances by WeiBird (韋禮安), Tanya Chua (蔡健雅), and rock band 831 (八三么), with key executives joining Shih in toasting and thanking employees.
