TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Six in ten respondents expect year-end bonuses ranging from one to three months, according to Cathay Financial Holdings' (國泰金控) survey released on Friday (Dec. 20). The survey highlighted that 42.3% of respondents anticipate a monthly salary increase of up to 3% in 2025, while 7.9% foresee a raise exceeding 3%.
Cathay Financial Holdings stated that 50.2% expect a salary increase next year, though 44% believe salaries will remain unchanged. The survey also showed that 8.6% expect year-end bonuses exceeding three months, marking a 0.3% increase from last year, whereas 29% predict bonuses less than one month, a 3.4% decrease from the previous year.
Cathay Financial Holdings noted that public expectations for salary increases and year-end bonuses in 2025 are more optimistic than in 2023. The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics (主計總處) estimates Taiwan's economic growth rate at 3.29% for 2025, but the public expects only 2.85%, with an anticipated inflation rate of 2.27%.
The survey also indicated that 52% of respondents believe the economic growth rate will be below 3%, and 66% think the inflation rate will exceed 2%. The Central Bank (中央銀行) decided on Thursday to freeze interest rates for the third consecutive time, opting not to implement the eighth wave of selective credit control.
