TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Shanghai Vice Mayor Hua Yuan (華源) expressed gratitude and extended an invitation to visit Shanghai as he departed Taipei on Tuesday (Dec. 17). Before boarding his flight at Taipei Songshan Airport, he waved to the media and welcomed them to visit the city one day.
After concluding the Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum earlier that day, he did not directly respond to media inquiries about potential Chinese tour groups visiting Taiwan before the Lunar New Year and the warming of cross-strait relations.
The Shanghai delegation, led by Hua Yuan, arrived in Taipei on Monday and attended a welcome banquet at the Grand Hotel (圓山飯店) hosted by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安). During the forum at the Regent Taipei (晶華酒店) on Tuesday morning, Taipei and Shanghai representatives signed memorandums of understanding to promote smart medical cooperation and the exchange and conservation of red panda.
At noon, Hua Yuan hosted a thank-you banquet at the Grand Hyatt Taipei (台北君悅酒店) following the main forum, which gathered around 200 attendees, including Taipei Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-hua (林奕華) and other senior officials. As cross-strait dialogues continue, the forum's outcomes could lead to enhanced cooperation in healthcare and wildlife conservation, marking a positive step in Taipei-Shanghai relations.
