TAIPEI (TVBS News) — WeatherRisk (天氣風險公司) analyst announced on Wednesday (Dec. 4) that two cold air masses will move southward in the coming days. The first wave will affect Taiwan from Saturday through Monday, with temperatures in open areas in the north and northeast dropping to 13 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) explained that the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ensemble forecast for Taipei Songshan Airport indicates two cold air waves over the next 10 to 15 days. The first wave, initially expected to reach the level of a continental cold air mass, may have a less severe impact. Temperatures in urban areas might range from 15 to 17°C.
Wu noted that moisture will concentrate on windward areas, increasing rain chances in Greater Taipei and the eastern regions, while the western regions south of Taoyuan will remain stable. If these conditions persist into next week, Taiwan will experience typical northeast monsoon weather for an extended period.
