TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC, 陸委會) presented a report to the Legislative Yuan's Internal Administration Committee (內政委員會) on Wednesday (Dec. 4), addressing the potential lifting of the ban on group tours to China.
The report cited China's recent national security law and 22 guidelines as threats to Taiwanese citizens' safety in China, necessitating further evaluation. It also emphasized the need for continued attention to China's economic actions toward Taiwan.
The MAC plans to enhance cross-strait economic risk management, supporting exchanges without political preconditions. The council aims to address Taiwanese business needs, assist in market diversification, and bolster supply chain resilience.
In response to a Legislative Yuan resolution to lift restrictions on group tourism to China, the MAC highlighted ongoing evaluations. The council will adapt cross-strait exchange regulations and management mechanisms in line with overall developments, adjusting entry measures for Chinese nationals to enhance safety and prevent Chinese Communist Party infiltration.
