TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China's Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO, 國台辦) refuted recent media reports on Wednesday (Nov. 27) that claimed the office urged Taiwanese businesses to leave China, labeling these reports "spread rumors and were not true."

TAO spokesman Chen Binhua (陳斌華) further declined the report, which claimed that the office requested Taiwanese businesses to follow its strategies in response to the impact of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Chen highlighted several recent events hosted by mainland authorities, including forums for Taiwanese businesses and industry chain connection meetings. These gatherings aimed to introduce vast opportunities presented by China's new wave of reform and opening up.

Chen also articulated the essence of the 1992 Consensus for the first time, stating it implied "both sides of the Strait temporarily putting aside different views on the political meaning of 'One China.'" He emphasized that if the Straits Exchange Foundation (海基會) returns to the 1992 Consensus, dialogue between the two associations could resume.
