TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Team Taiwan will head to Japan on Tuesday (Nov. 19) after advancing to the Super Round of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 the day before. This marks the first time the national baseball team has advanced to the Premier12 semifinals.
Due to this, China Airlines (華航) announced plans on Monday to upgrade its Nov. 20 Taipei-Tokyo flight CI108 from a single-aisle A321neo to a wide-body A330, releasing over 120 additional seats for sale at 7 p.m. Monday. This move comes as fans scramble to secure flights to Tokyo, where the semifinals will take place at Tokyo Dome from Nov. 21 to 23, coinciding with Japan's peak autumn foliage season, making flights scarce.
China Airlines has committed to assisting with return flights from Tokyo to Taiwan to meet the demands of fans eager to support their team. According to China Airlines' booking data, economy-class tickets to Tokyo during the tournament range from NT$46,000 to NT$47,000, with prices soaring to NT$63,000 on Nov. 23.
As Taiwan's team prepares for the semifinals, fans are encouraged to act quickly to secure their travel arrangements, with limited availability and rising costs expected to persist throughout the tournament.
