TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Silks Place Taroko (太魯閣晶英酒店) announced in a statement on Friday (Nov. 8) that it will suspend its lodging services until Jan. 15, 2025. The hotel, located in eastern Taiwan, attributed this decision to the aftermath of Typhoon Kong-rey (康芮) and extended the validity of accommodation vouchers as a result.
The hotel had initially closed for six months following a strong Hualien (花蓮) earthquake on April 3, reopening in October with a limited five-day weekly schedule to gradually recover alongside nature. However, Typhoon Kong-rey struck before it could fully recover, forcing a second closure within seven months. Silks Place Taroko emphasized its deepened understanding of nature's power.
The hotel assured guests with reservations that it would notify them individually via phone and text. Silks Place Taroko extended the validity of 2023 vouchers to June 30, 2025, and 2024 vouchers to Sept. 30, 2025, urging customers to book by phone if the original expiration date has passed.
