TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌), the former Taipei mayor, criticized the breach of confidentiality in the investigation of Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) on Tuesday (Oct. 15). Hau remarked that while public support for former Taipei Mayor Ko may not prove his innocence, it underscores the seriousness of the information leak.
Hau made his comments during a press conference organized by Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Legislator Lo Chih-chiang (羅智強). While he expressed respect for the investigation process, he called the leaks "very ridiculous" and urged authorities to take action.
Hau also suggested that the National Communications Commission (NCC, 國家通訊傳播委員會) should investigate and impose penalties if the leaks turn out to be unfounded rumors.
Authorities detained Ko over his alleged involvement in the Core Pacific case (京華城案). A magazine reported that a flash drive seized from Ko contained a note indicating a monetary sum linked to Core Pacific Group (威京集團) chairman Sheen Ching-jing (沈慶京).
