TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Supporters of former Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) gathered outside the Taipei Detention Center (台北看守所) on Tuesday (Sept. 17) to show solidarity as he faces charges related to the Core Pacific City case (京華城案).
About 80 supporters, known as "Little Grass" (小草), held a peaceful sit-in to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with him.
The group initiated the "Silent Revolution, Accompanied by Starlight" (寧靜革命,星光相伴) event, calling for nightly sit-ins with an average of 20 to 30 participants.
On Tuesday evening, Ko's wife, Chen Pei-chi (陳佩琪), joined the supporters along with Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Legislator Huang Shan-shan (黃珊珊). Chen expressed her longing for Ko, saying, "I really miss you," and vowed to support him from outside.
The supporters started dispersing around 9:50 p.m., showing their dedication to Ko Wen-je despite the challenging circumstances. The movement highlights the strong community backing Ko continues to receive as he navigates his legal battle.
