TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) issued a heavy rain advisory on Wednesday (Oct. 9) for Keelung's north coast, Taipei, and mountainous areas in Yilan County.
Officials cited the northeast monsoon as the cause of the severe weather and urged residents to remain vigilant against potential landslides, falling rocks, and flash floods.
Due to the monsoon's influence, the administration highlighted a high probability of localized heavy rain in Taipei, New Taipei City, and Yilan. Authorities warned communities in low-lying areas to be particularly cautious of flooding and to implement safety measures to protect themselves and their property.
The administration also noted on Tuesday that the northeast monsoon would continue to bring cool weather in the mornings and evenings throughout the week. Temperatures in northern Taiwan and Yilan are expected to range from 21 to 22 degrees Celsius at their lowest and 25 to 26 degrees at their highest. Officials anticipate a temperature rise only after the monsoon weakens on Sunday.
