KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government (高雄市農業局) announced on Friday (Oct. 4) that Typhoon Krathon has wreaked havoc, with estimated agricultural losses exceeding NT$100 million.

The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported that the typhoon battered Kaohsiung for over 60 hours, delivering gusts above 10 in 21 districts and more than 200 mm of rain in 24 hours across 24 districts.

As of Friday afternoon, the city reported crop losses amounting to NT$80.76 million, with guavas, jujubes, bananas, and tomatoes among the most severe hit.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) urged farmers to report crop damage to local district offices and use the Ministry of Agriculture's (MOA, 農業部) app to document the destruction.

Mayor Chen expressed hope for swift recovery efforts through collaboration between central and local governments. He emphasized the need to secure aid and support farmers in overcoming these challenges.
