TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Krathon made landfall in Siaogang (小港), Kaohsiung, at noon. on Thursday (Oct. 3), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).
The administration issued land warnings for areas south of Taoyuan, including Nantou, Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and Penghu, along with a strong wind Advisory for Kaohsiung and Pingtung.
As CWA advises heightened vigilance, residents in Kaohsiung and Pingtung should prepare for sustained winds of level 12 or gusts surpassing level 14. The land warning zone extends through Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, Pingtung, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Penghu.
CWA also placed sea warnings for the Taiwan Strait (台灣海峽), northeastern and southeastern waters off Taiwan, the Bashi Channel (巴士海峽), and waters near Dongsha Island (東沙島), urging vessels to ensure safety.
