TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) expressed deep sorrow Tuesday (Oct. 1) and urged the National Police Agency (警政署) and Ministry of Interior (MOI, 內政部) to provide the utmost support to the family of a police officer who died in the line of duty.

A tragic incident claimed the life of a police officer in New Taipei City late Monday night. A female driver, found in possession of drugs, fatally struck the Qingshui Police Station (清水派出所) chief during a routine stop.

Premier Cho also emphasized the need for accountability. "The perpetrator should offer a clear account to society regarding her unlawful behavior," he remarked.

Interior Minister Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) expressed her grief and confirmed the highest level of compensation for the fallen officer's family.
